Public bug reported:

Scala minor versions are completely incompatible with each other -- they
seem to rewrite half of the spec every few years. A program compiled
under one version will almost certainly fail to run under another.

To solve this, I suggest having separate packages such as scala-1.8 and
scala-1.9.
