Public bug reported:

Hello System 11.10 x86_64 . Processor amd 64 X2, When starting gnome
alsamixer it's stops on segfault. Some other person had the same and did
bachtrace with gdb That what this person posted

this is what I get in my gdb traceback:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

I added as attachement the console output (obatained with script -af)
When I try to start gnome-alsamixer

Problem seems to be on debian systems as well.

it happens to all gnome3 systems. It does occur in ubuntu using gnome-
shell but also when using unity.

This is very critical bug, As gnome-alsamixer is the only remaining
possibility to adjust audio cards input channels. Basic volumecontrol
with pulse does not handle the input channels. Alsamixergui does not
work anymore (only two channels)

The terminal alsamixer does work. But is very unpractical in use. Maybe
good for a test but that's it.
