Sad, ain't it ? I have more and more the feeling that I'm heading straight to the wall with Ubuntu (and with Linux, in general, since Ubuntu is the best Linux distro, right?). Well, at least as a desktop environment. Power consumption and management, version updates, driver integration, etc. these are important issues, too. As for the DE GUI, as long as we're stuck with this kind of issues and not taking a wholistic approach, I am very much afraid that Ubuntu's days are numbered. Please, Mark, don't do this to us, Ubuntu fans and users. Please, don't do this to yourself. Just steal some GUI designers from Microsoft, and make something new, something great. Or at least something that works.
