Following step 1 here fixed the no sound problem: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure
But I still have the muted headphone jack problem. I've played around in alsamixer and I've tried various models with options snd-hda-intel model=MODELNAME in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, but nothing seems to fix this problem. If I go into sound settings, output tab, and manually change "Connector", I can get speakers muted with headphones on, but that's really annoying. The Connector also changes automatically when I plug in the headphones but it only works correctly if I manually switch it. I have a Realtek ALC665.
