$ lspci| grep -i radeon 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Cedar PRO [Radeon HD 5450] $ sudo aptitude show fglrx Package: fglrx New: yes State: installed Automatically installed: no Version: 2:8.881-0ubuntu4 Priority: extra Section: restricted/misc I have tried more than one suggestion and I had multiple failures and reboots. Please note the discrepancy between the Radeon version number.
