I'm using: Ubuntu GNOME Shell Remix 11.10

I have the same bug, but the workaround (getent passwd | grep <user> >>
/etc/passwd) does not work.

Selecting the session: Classic Gnome works fine.

I also notice:
I put empathy as a start-up program. When loging into Gnome-shell, the login
hangs, I have no menu, but empathy starts with no window decorator (like
metacity) ..
