Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

This only happens in kubuntu (kde) and not ubuntu (gnome),
After a fresh install.
I install the nvidia-glx package.
In the terminal I run: sudo nvidia-glx-config enable
Then I edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file: in the Section "Device" I change
Driver "nv" to "nvidia".
I then reboot and the system loads normally but when it should be starting X,
the system hangs and shows the kubuntu splash screen in blue with the progress
bar empty.

I am running kubuntu i386 on an AMD64 bit 3200 processor with an Nvidia
Geforce 5500.

** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Untriaged
         Status: Unconfirmed
