I have a Microsoft PS/2 mouse with track wheel. After upgrading from Ubuntu 9.10 to Lubuntu 11.10, I had to apply the evdev Emulate3Buttons change to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ to get the middle button back.
There you go ... sameo sameo for Oneiric. Strongly agree with a substantial fix, aka not in the form of release notes. I don't read release notes, but just out of curiosity, it's only in the 11.04 release notes, not 11.10. It may seem old news to maintainers but users do not follow release notes, esp. older releases'.
