Sorry guys, it's still there upstream. Ndiswrapper is missing in that
kernel too, so I couldn't even use my old adapter that I am intending to
replace with the one I've used here.  I tested the very latest kernel
release for oneiric, linux-
image-3.1.0-0301rc10-generic_3.1.0-0301rc10.201110190851_i386.deb

Thanks for the help up to now guys, let's see how this goes - for the
record, what the device is doing is simply locking open (blue light is
solid) - when first attached, the blue light should flash constantly
until it's hooked to a network.
