I did not use the workaround. Gstreamer is set to automatic and video for linux 4 (v4l) is selected under the video tab You see I tried the workaround and found it to be useless since video quality was very bad. So I returned settings to default. It just started working one day. I did not try with kompiz. I do not like kompiz. Prefer Beryl.
