Andrew: I can't explain anything I'm afraid - I'm just another user like you. However changing Xorg is serious business and if the change is invasive then it will need a huge amount of testing before it can be released. If the change depends on a whole load of other changes then you may not be able to safely release it to existing users and it will have to be queued for the next Ubuntu release. It's not enough for it to fix a problem for some people - it must not cause new problems for others...
