Not sure of this is useful, but based on comments on various forums and
blogs, I tested the setup with adding "acpi=nonvs" to the kernel boot
options. Resume problem persists.

For the record, the complete kernel parameters are

Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.1.0-0301rc9-generic
root=UUID=47478777-f2c1-4989-9137-30a263fa11ad ro quiet splash
acpi_sleep=nonvs vt.handoff=7

Also attached is the output of

# dmesg  | grep ACPI > dmesg_ACPI.txt

in hope that it is useful.
