Also just a note: running the commands listed in the link caused pulseaudio to no longer be run at startup automatically. I now have to do "Alt+F2 pulseaudio" to get my sound back. The issue with having to have the system volume set ~ >25% persists.
** Description changed: [USB-Audio - USB Device 0x41e:0x30d3, playback] No sound at all. Sound card is a Creative Sound Blaster SB1140. Plugging into the USB port in 11.04 used to require me to go into alsamixer, choose the usb card, turn the volume up all the way, go to the ubuntu sound settings, choose "output," and select the USB "30D3" card. In Ubuntu 11.10, not even this works. Now, the sound card shows up in alsamixer and the sound control's "hardware" tab, but not in the output tab. Running pavucontrol causes the two test tones to come through the usb sound card, but all other sounds (ie banshee) comes out of the laptop speakers. + ***UPDATE 10/17/11: New system update solves this problem, but now + causes sound to only be output when ~ >25% system volume.*** + + Original Bug post output: ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: alsa-base 1.0.24+dfsg-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24.
