I am the writer of bug #779243 and today I found a way to pass the problem. In the Keyboard Layout Options I use 'Compose key position' and 'Key sequence to kill the X server'. Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to kill the server means the use of the left Ctrl+Alt. I think it is not possible to use a key twice in the Options list so I have taken the right Ctrl key in the Compose key position. Everything is working fine now. Good luck and success.
