~/.local/share/gnome-background-properties/ cat >~/.local/share/gnome-background-properties/custom-wallpapers.xml <<EOF <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE wallpapers SYSTEM "gnome-wp-list.dtd"> <wallpapers> <wallpaper deleted="false"> <name>Pykler</name> <filename>/home/pykler/.backgrounds/realtime/background.xml</filename> <options>zoom</options> </wallpaper> </wallpapers> EOF Replace the path and name as needed, launch the Appearance in the gnome- control-center and you will see the new "Pykler" background. Again too much work. I think the following command should do it, but couldn't get it to refresh properly: gconftool-2 --set /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename --type string file:///home/pykler/.backgrounds/realtime/background.xml -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/868850 Title: the background panel doesn't let you add xml wallpapers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/868850/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
