Public bug reported: Samba simply failed to install during Oneric upgrade.
I'll see if it was a corrupted package download by removing it from the cache and trying the upgrade again. All other packages installed without issue. Here is the string suggested for the bug name: "package samba 2:3.5.8 ~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: package samba is not ready for configuration cannot configure (current status `half- installed')" ProblemType: Package DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-11.50-generic 2.6.38.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-11-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 BothFailedConnect: Yes Date: Sat Oct 15 07:00:51 2011 ErrorMessage: ErrorMessage: package samba is not ready for configuration cannot configure (current status `half-installed') NmbdLog: SambaServerRegression: Yes SmbConfIncluded: Yes SmbLog: SourcePackage: samba Title: package samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: package samba is not ready for configuration cannot configure (current status `half-installed') UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-10-14 (1 days ago) ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-package oneiric -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874994 Title: package samba 2:3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu2.3 failed to install/upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/874994/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
