This is intermittent - as it's setting up, if the screen goes to terminal mode and starts displaying setup line info the setup stops at the battery check. If it manages to avoid this (i.e. no lines are displayed), and gets to the log-in screen I can log in, get into ubuntu and it all seems to be OK.
