Roger, this is a very unusual error: update-alternatives: error: /var/lib/dpkg/alternatives/nmblookup corrupt: invalid status
This would only occur if that file has some strange data in it. I would suggest doing this after a backup of your system completes: sudo apt-get remove samba sudo apt-get install samba ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/873195 Title: package samba-common 2:3.5.4~dfsg-1ubuntu8.4 failed to install/upgrade: there is no script in the new version of the package - giving up To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/873195/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
