Here are the specifications for my system. It is a stock HP Media Center m7330n. I took these directly from HP's site. As for prompting me when I insert a blank disk, I do not get prompted unless I tell Ubuntu to mount the disk. If I try to burn a disk, I get this message:
There was an error writing to the disc: Error while writing to disc. Try a lower speed. I have tried to burn a 1.0x speed with the same result.
