** Description changed:

  OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric stable
  Application: gpointing-device-settings 1.5.1-5ubuntu1

I own an Acer Aspire 5738, which allows edge scrolling on a touchpad. My
scrolling was working fine in Natty and Maverick, but since making a
fresh installation of Oneiric, it fails to work.

Pointing Devices shows two mice: one a generic PS/2 Mouse and the other
AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint, even though there is no other mouse attached.
Under PS/2 Mouse, wheel emulation, including vertical and horizontal
scrolling is enabled. Under ALPS, touchpad is enabled, as is vertical
- scrolling, horizontal scrolling and continuous edge scrolling.
+ scrolling, horizontal scrolling and continuous edge scrolling. Under
+ Mouse and Touchpad, a Touchpad tab does exist.

EDIT: Running "xinput list" reveals, under Virtual Core Pointer:
- ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
+  ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
  ⎜ ↳ PS/2 Mouse id=11 [slave pointer
 (2)]
  ⎜ ↳ AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint id=12 [slave pointer
 (2)]

  Can someone help?
