@Michal Sawicz Michal, I have no problem with the menu being there, nor it being hidden. But why doesn't it behave like all the other menus?
If I press F10 anywhere else (i.e., anywhere but the Desktop), then the first application-menu-item (e.g., File) is focused, which if I then press left-arrow-key I'm taken to the Power-Cog. When I'm at the Desktop and I press F10, the Messaging-Indicator is focused (i.e., not the "File" menu). This is the Bug that I am reporting. This is the bug that prevents me from getting to the Power-Cog. I like the Desktop Menu and appreciate its presence. I also have no problem with the Desktop Menu being hidden (like all the other applications-menus are). However, the Desktop Menu should behave like all the other application-menus. That is, when I move the mouse over the menu it should reveal itself. When I press F10, the focus should go to the first application-menu item and not the first status-indicator item. The bug I am reporting is that: 1.) a Desktop-Application-Menu is present but does not reveal itself when I move the mouse over it. 2.) a Desktop-Application-Menu is present but the first menu item is not gaining focus when I press F10, instead the first Status-Indicator is gaining focus. Have I cleared up the confusion? >>>"(what's your usecase, btw, to reach to the cog/shutdown so often?)" I use the Power-Cog to "Shut Down" "Restart" and "Log Out". So I use it every single time I use the computer. ** Description changed: - When I'm at the Desktop and I press F10 > left-arrow-key, I'm expecting - the keyboard focus to shift to the Power-Cog. But instead I get a small - window that pops up in the middle of the Desktop that says "Ubuntu - Help." There is a hidden menu for the Desktop that is invisible and not accessible by the mouse. It is preventing me from gaining quick access to the Power-Cog because pressing F10 puts focus on the Messaging- Indicator, yet pressing the left-arrow-key when on the Messaging Indicator moves to the invisible Desktop-Application-Menu (not the Power-Cog). That is, I can't do my normal trick of pressing F10 > left- arrow-key to reach the Power-Cog.
