I have two Ubuntu 11.04 machines. One with Unity and one with Gnome3.
Ekiga runs fine on the latter, but not on the one with Unity. There are
more differences than the desktop environments of course, so I cannot
directly make any parallels. It is different audio hardware, for
instance.

On the Unity machine, I get the same symptoms as this bug describes. No
sound from Ekiga, but I can play music or use Skype. I have tried
disabling pulseaudio using pasuspender -- ekiga, but that trigged other
issues. I cannot tell if that is a solution or not. However, the
reporter of this bug claims he have pulseaudio disabled.
