$ uname -a Linux ironhide 3.1.0-999-generic #201110040905 SMP Tue Oct 4 09:10:44 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ cat /proc/cmdline BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.1.0-999-generic root=/dev/mapper/ironhide-root ro quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor vt.handoff=7 $ xset s activate Result: display turns off and does not resume until I close the lid, wait for system suspend and then open the lid for a system resume. So the result is the same with both the RC and daily kernels. I will retry with each of them without the acpi_backlight=vendor option to ensure that it is still required to adjust the backlight and that the display hang issue is no longer present. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872652 Title: Display Hang With acpi_backlight=vendor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/872652/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
