I have done a bit more testing with the same kernel (while acpi_backlight=vendor is enabled).
I can reliably reproduce the issue by running: xset s activate Before runnning that command the following worked without issue: vbetool dpms off; sleep 2; vbetool dpms on But after running xset s activate, then suspending and resuming the machine (do get the display back), the vbetool dpms commands no longer cause the display to blank and then return. I do have access to this machine from another on the same network, so just let me know what you want me to do from that machine while the machine is in the "blanked" state to try to get the display back. I will test with the daily and rc kernels next... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872652 Title: Display Hang With acpi_backlight=vendor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/872652/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
