I use menus pretty often, and use them for just about everything when learning new software. So I disagree with the idea that menus aren't important. I don't have any trouble with global menus, but I used to use a Mac [which has global menus], and I used to have a malfunctioning Alps touchpad on my current machine [which meant that, among other problems, it was hard to get fine motions with the cursor].
There is now a patch for the Alps, but there is bound to be trouble with another closed-source touchpad, mouse, or other device. I have one problem with the global menus - that the menus for any one application cover up the menus for the desktop environment. Apple moderates this using the Apple menu. Unity puts the shortcuts menu there instead, and the shortcuts menu is a pain to deal with. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682788 Title: Global menu is not ergonomical on large screens To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/682788/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
