Please could anybody who can recreate this problem help by obtaining a
debug log as per comment #14.

@Callum / @Luke: Would you be willing to do this to help us out?

If you are unhappy to modify your grub config, you can simply add the
plymouth:debug option each time you boot (the system will revert to
standard behaviour if you do not make the change of course). Simple
instructions are here:
