For the HP you should still report the bug to HP. You actually do not reach the full output quality of the printer. And do not think your printer is too old. There are newer models which print with the same protocol and they probably do not reach maximum quality, too.
Also report your problem on the Brother to Brother. To the link to driver source code which you have posted, the linked package is open source, but it needs a second package (LPD driver) which is not open source. As the core driver is an LPD driver and not a CUPS driver, there are also problems with passing option settings from CUPS clients (applications) to the driver. So please report your problems to Brother. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/865871 Title: Print dialog between CP and final print inconsistent To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/865871/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
