@sargentd: no, I configured thinkfan.conf according to http://thinkpad- wiki.org/Thinkfan#Keine_Funktion_auf_X220.2C_T420.28s.29.2C_L420_mit_Ubuntu_11.04_.2F_Kernel_2.6.38
Now that you pointed me to /usr/share/doc/thinkfan/examples/thinkfan.conf.sysfs I see that it mentions two differences that might be very important: 1. it defines another fan control file (/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon3/device/pwm1) which has a very different syntax (level 0-255 instead of 0-7) than the default one (/proc/acpi/ibm/fan). 2. the fan speed configuration is adjusted according to the new fan control file. The levels are 0, 36, 72, 109,145, 182 and 255 instead of 0-7. I guess that both ways produce similar results at the moment, while /proc/acpi/ibm/fan might be dropped in future thinkpad_acpi releases. But my original point still holds: the thinkpad temperature sensor at /proc/acpi/ibm/termal no longer exists at Natty/Oneiric, and thus the default thinkfan.conf should be adjusted. You might want to use the synatx from thinkfan.conf.sysfs though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787697 Title: thinkfan doesn't find temperature sensors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thinkfan/+bug/787697/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
