Title:
  Problem began when I selected terminal Icon from Dash Home...the
  application that started was not "Terminal" it was unrelated to
  terminal...icon seems to point to wrong app. I can get tetminal to
  start if I search for "Terminal" app . This has happened with other
  apps also . Tried "sudo unity --replace" and got this error... compiz
  crashed with SIGSEGV in
  unity::switcher::SwitcherController::~SwitcherController()
