Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xgl
The bug is basically that after an arbitrary number of window minimize/close operations (sometimes only 1 is enough, sometimes 20 is needed), some compiz plugin textures get lost (e.g. cube skydome turns white). And they stay that way until the texture is manually reloaded or compiz is restarted. The bug is described in detail here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10789 Luckily, there is an upstream git patch that solves the problem: http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/xserver.git;a=commitdiff;h=31e391a20c552e786e95156fab300224dbab431c which was apparently left out from xserver-xgl 7.2.0.git.20070224-0ubuntu3 (a later commit fixing glCallLists has made it in). Applying this patch completely solved the problem here.
