seems the same even though the kernel does not panic

try attaching your dmesg (I'm not sure I'll be of help, though)

you can try yourself doing a dmesg|less and then type "/rt61 " (without
quotes) so that you can find the lines regarding rt61; maybe here you'll
find more infos...
