These crash reports are caused by a bug in plymouth, the boot-time
splash screen. Sometimes the errors are not reported for quite a while
after the crash actually happens.

If someone here is able to reproduce this bug reliably, please do the following:
 - edit /etc/default/grub so that GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT is set to "quiet
splash plymouth:debug"
 - run sudo update-grub
 - reboot, and when you receive the prompt asking whether to report a crash
about plymouthd, say "yes"
 - attach /var/log/plymouth-debug.log to the new bug report
