I think I have a similar issue, though I installed from scratch. My setup: - Ubuntu Feisty - home partition retained from a previous dapper installation - I have messed a bit with binary drivers for my Nvidia GeForce Go 5700. I think I don't have any binary installed (maybe for my wireless card) as now I'm running the 'nv' driver and linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-15-generic is not installed
Symptoms: - Start screensaver preview - play a bit with fullscreen preview, with both 2d (eg. Xylap) and 3d (eg. AntInspect) screensavers - X crashes and I'm back to gdm login screen I also have enabled laptop-mode from /etc/default/acpi-support. I get a crash both with a reboot and after susped/hibernation, and with both /proc/sys/vm/laptop_mode 0 and 2 (that is laptop mode disabled and enabled) I haven't tried without laptop-mode, if you think it's relevant, I'll try disabling it from acpi-support. >From the previous comment (but I'm not sure if it's relevant): $ apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-core: Installato: 2:1.2.0-3ubuntu8 Candidato: 2:1.2.0-3ubuntu8 Tabella versione: *** 2:1.2.0-3ubuntu8 0 500 cdrom://Ubuntu 7.04 _Feisty Fawn_ - Release i386 (20070415) feisty/main Packages 500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com feisty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status -- Gnome-Screensaver update causing crashes? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/86568 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
