Public bug reported:

Pidgin 2.10.0
Ubuntu 11.10 beta1 with latest updates as of 14/09/2011

The window isn't properly handled upon first startup. Clicking anywhere
transfers clicks to underlying window, as if this window didn't exist at
all. Upon Maximise, doesn't maximise fully. Breaks window decorations
too.

Interestingly, upon killing/quitting and starting it from the
terminal/Dash again, it works smoothly. No errors, no wierd behaviour
