The bug seems to me not to have been fixed. It takes me up to 6 to 8 tries before any successfull cold boot.
I made the modification suggested by Andy in comment #10. Maybe 1 success for every 8 to 10 tries. I don't know whether it still makes sense to test the kernel linked at in comment #14.
