Kernel from http://rookery.ubuntu.com/~kyle/kernels/salgado/2007-04-25/ fixed problem with sound on my IBM Thinkpad T60. thank you guys, I hope this "unpatched" kernel makes its way into the repositories quickly, as there are really many people out there with this bug!
