Sorry, but you'll have to do another debdiff :) The .desktop file is installed there: /usr/share/gnome/apps/Internet/grcm.desktop And therefore no menu item is displayed in the menu. It should go into /usr/share/applications/ The .desktop file itself is wrong too, it needs at least a Categories field. Run desktop-file-validate on it to see what has to be fixed. Don't hesitate to ask for help in #ubuntu-motu if you need.
