I'm running a AMD Fusion embedded motherboard with a Realtek gigabit adapter and I experience the same problem.
Link to my motherboard: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_CPU_on_Board/E35M1I/#specifications The specs list "RealtekĀ® 8111E , 1 x Gigabit LAN Controller". "lspci" states: "Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 06)" The system is used as a file server and when I do a large unzip job from a client pc over the network I immediately can see these messages popping up on the console of my fileserver: "nohz local_softirq_pending 08" The message repeats itself a couple of times and then after one minute or so, the fileserver locks up and an oops is shown on the console. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/784335 Title: Heavy network utilization with r8169 leads to kernel panic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/784335/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
