Not a dupe based on the other comment. The suggestion still stands: I haven't tried amavisd-new on Feisty, but a number of packages are not coping well with /var/run now being a tempfs. Try creating the directory for the pid file manually and then run apt-get upgrade and see it the package configures. Please let us know if that corrects the problem.
