I figured I'd start with foobar2000 since I'm on Windows at the moment, but fb2k by default has absolutely no keyboard shortcuts for playback control; so in that sense it's similar to current Exaile.
It does let you set your own shortcuts, though, including redefining important keys like Return or up/down.
