Hi, I've tested again in the latest version of Chrome for Ubuntu (13.0.782.107) and HTML5 audio is working as expected, just click the play button and all is well
The stream is MP3, but why does Firefox not support playing such a common media type (I presume this is a reported issue already) Cheers Iain On Wed, 03 Aug 2011 14:10:47 -0000, Daniel Manrique wrote: > Hello Iain, > Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. > > I went to the page you mention using Firefox 5 and indeed I get no > audio; however I used Google Chrome as well and I get the same results > (i.e. no audio). It looks like Firefox only supports ogg format audio and apparently the audio file in the website you're looking at is mp3 format (specifically not supported by Firefox). > > Thanks! > > ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) > Status: New => Incomplete > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug > report. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820343 [3]Title: > No support for HTML5 Audio tag > > Status in "firefox" package in Ubuntu: > Incomplete > > Bug description: > Firefox doesn't support the HTML5 audio tag correctly whilst other > modern browsers do > > Mobile HTML5 Test stream > > http://eastmanchesterradio.com/mobile.php [4] > > ProblemType: Bug > DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 > Package: firefox 5.0+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.2 > ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-11.47-generic 2.6.38.8 > Uname: Linux 2.6.38-11-generic i686 > Architecture: i386 > Date: Wed Aug 3 13:36:17 2011 > FirefoxPackages: > firefox 5.0+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.11.04.2 > flashplugin-installer 10.3.181.34ubuntu0.11.04.1 > adobe-flashplugin N/A > icedtea-plugin 1.1.1-0ubuntu1~11.04.1 > InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) > ProcEnviron: > LANGUAGE=en_GB:en > LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 > SHELL=/bin/bash > SourcePackage: firefox > UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) > > To manage notifications about this bug go to: > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/820343/+subscriptions [5] -- Tune in and chill out to East Manchester Radio - http://bit.ly/emradio [6] Links: ------ [1] http://moztw.org/demo/audioplayer/ [2] http://www.phoboslab.org/files/html5audio/ [3] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820343 [4] http://eastmanchesterradio.com/mobile.php [5] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/820343/+subscriptions [6] http://bit.ly/emradio -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820343 Title: No support for HTML5 Audio tag To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/820343/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
