A FYI: With Ubuntu Oneiric Alpha 2 with kernel 3.0.0-5-generic, the usb wifi dongle seems to be recognized. See snippets below.
FWIW: I can't configure anything via the network applet in the upper right corner (does not work either for the built-in wifi, so probably a GUI / applet bug), but 'sudo iwlist scan' shows the wifi-networks seen by the usb wifi device, so that's good. I first tried today's daily build of Oneiric from a persistent USB-key, but it asks for a password when I try to access the network applet. An empty password does not work. If somebody can tell what I should do, I can test further with the daily build HTH ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ uname -a Linux ubuntu 3.0.0-5-generic #6-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 12 05:14:17 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux lsusb: Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0bda:8176 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
