It sounds like you're hitting a kernel panic. Please run 'apport-collect
818520' from a terminal to attach relevant information to this bug
report. Please also try booting with the no_console_suspend boot
parameter, then run 'sudo pm-suspend' from virtual terminal 1 to see if
a panic message is displayed on the screen. If you do see a panic
message, please attach the text to the bug (photographing the screen and
attaching the picture is one way you can do this).
