I have similar problem. Steps to reproduce: 1. with Desktop-effects enabled start "Places->Home Folder" (nautilus), maximize it, close it 2. start it again. Now it is not possible to close it or to minimize it using cross button or underscore button, respectively (in the top right part of the window)
