hi, thanks for feeding back me...well, i'll try to report the latest
things that changed up to the problem...

- i'd changed to the kernel 2.6.38.10 (PAE) ---> the system start to work with
4 gb ram nicely.
- i installed CLOUDSN to monitor messages via notification panel (i'm not
shure, but it's possible it isn't official software), now i just removed it.
- i made a litle change in the file: gtk.immodules at line 9:
        it was: <<"cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"
"az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa" >>

        changed to: <<"cedilla" "Cedilla" "gtk20" "/usr/share/locale"
"az:ca:co:fr:gv:oc:pt:sq:tr:wa:en" >>

- added the line:
        <<export GTK_IM_MODULE=cedilla>> to the file (etc/environment).
-see attached files.

at this point the system don't start up more...just in black post screen
i can read some "panic" and the three keyboard's led blinks... but
before this point the system always failed to complete the automatic
update returning error exit status 1.

i appreciate your effort trying to help me... thanks again.

cheers.

It would be helpful to give a clearer description of "something happens".
:-)

If I don't have any hint of what could have caused this problem, then I
can't fix it.
