I tried to install the new driver from cschieli. It pulled in dkms, but I got the same error messages about installing nvidia-96 as linuxND, and also the same error message when uninstalling it. Synaptic showed nvidia-96 as installed, but jockey didn't offer any proprietary driver. I am using the nouveau driver, in case it makes any difference.
