Public bug reported: It seems there is a bug in Lubuntu-Desktop i386 11.04 that causes shortcut-menus for applications which require root access (i.e. Synaptic) not to work.
Reproduction: 1. Call Start Menu -> System Tools -> Synaptic Package Manager 2. Enter your Passwort Expected behavior: Synaptic starts up. Actual behavior: The password is somehow rejected and Synaptic does not start up. This affects other root-applications, too. Workaround: Run "gksu-properties and change the authentication mode from "su" to "sudo". Then everything works fine, even after logging out and back logging in. (I found the workaround in this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1615438) Shouldn't the authentication mode be set to sudo by default? ** Affects: lubuntu-default-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/815463 Title: gksu uses wrong authentication mode by default in Lubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-default-settings/+bug/815463/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
