Sorry, switching to a different version kernel is simply not going to be supportable in the open-vm-tools dkms package. You can compile your own version from upstream if you need that.
If someone would like to put the time into a open-vm-tools backport to go along with kernel backports, that could (apparently) be valuable to some. I'm going to mark this bug invalid however. The former dupes which were on the 2.6.32 kernel have been pulled apart and will be addressed. ** Changed in: open-vm-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/647309 Title: package open-vm-dkms 2010.02.23-236320-1 ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build (lucid) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/647309/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
