Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The version of update-initramfs that you likely have installed is unable to work on a persistent usb stick. You can resolve this issue by upgrading the version of casper on your system. This can be done via the commands:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install casper Then performing the software update or installation that you were originally trying. If this does resolve your bug please set its status to Invalid. Thanks in advance! ** Changed in: casper (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: needs-new-casper -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569287 Title: package initramfs-tools 0.92bubuntu76 failed to install/upgrade: exit status 1 - update-initramfs / gzip: /initrd.img.gz: No such file or directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/569287/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
