Uhm... i just got an idea regarging design of those icons.... mmm, but my english is not so good to describe it properly :(
Maybe lenses should be not all in the same squared like buttons like rest of the lauchers of apps. There should be a difference between regular launcher and lense button. Lenses icons could be placed directly on unity launcher with monochrome icon and make it to look like it is carved into the launcher itself. Like on some Mac OS X applications, when text is like embossed/carved/engraved into surface.
